Risk of Rain 2

I focused on making skin mods for the risk of rain 2 modding community. first it started of as just messing with adding my own spin to thing which led to my freelance gig of making skin mods for this game.

here is few of the skins that ive made so far in my Skin Modding Journey. the rest can be found on my thunderstore page here and here.

This series plays on community inside jokes about character-specific strategies, using them as the basis for the design.

In the early days of the community, skins were often used as a way for new modders to experiment, ranging from simple color variations of existing characters to highly personalized designs made primarily for individual use. This project was among the earlier efforts to approach skins with a clear conceptual direction, encouraging further experimentation and more creative exploration within the community.

For example, Engineer’s kit encourages passive play through deployable turrets. Combined with Risk of Rain 2’s item-stacking system and the Bustling Fungus—which heals while standing still, players could theoretically survive late-game encounters without input, literal AFK. This became known as the “Bungus Strat.”

The design visualizes that joke by turning the strategy into a literal form.

How its made?

its made by utilizing a specialized package for unity, skinbuilder tool, made by @kingenderbrine & tweaks by @runefox on the Risk of Rain 2 Modding Discord. i did do some bit of modification to the code but nothing too substantial, just expanding handling on edges cases and unique implementation thru this project.

Warhammer 40K

series of character skins based on the miniature tabletop wargame.

Started as commission work but it extended into gaining a personally interest in expanding this collection. these projects specifically made me care more about the background and detailing when working on projects like this. stuff like the armor design, color choice, the decals and even the type of helmet they are using, define the Character/Group they are apart of.

this one has a documented process in-detail which you can see here

HGFacelift Initiative

noticed the player based would ignore modded playable characters that doesnt fit the aesthetics of RoR2, started an initiative to give them these character a facelift with a skin that suits them while still keeping true its original concept and gameplay.

Mastery

skins meant to celebrate an aspect of the character, usually an expansion to its lore, and designed to be an achievement for the player clearing the game in its hardest difficulty using these characters. these are the skins i’ve made for modded character for that purpose.
